Privacy Policy
For Free AAC · Last updated June 17, 2026
For Free AAC helps children communicate using symbol grids and spoken voice. We built the app so daily AAC use works offline on your device. This policy explains what information we collect and what stays on your phone or tablet.
What stays on your device
- AAC grids, boards, routines, and child profiles
- Your parent PIN (stored as a secure hash, not plain text)
- Voice and display settings
- Custom symbols you add
We do not upload your child's AAC messages or grid content to our servers.
What we collect when you register
On first setup, parents may optionally share:
- Parent or caregiver name
- Email address
- Whether you want product updates by email
- A stable device identifier (not tied to child content)
This helps us send optional updates and support families who choose to hear from us. Registration is not required for offline AAC use after install.
Admin sign-in (website only)
The web admin area uses Supabase email magic links. Only authorized administrators can access registration lists and send newsletters.
Children's privacy
The app is designed for families and therapists supporting children who use AAC. We do not show ads, sell personal information, or use third-party tracking in the child experience. Keep your parent PIN private so children stay in focused child mode.
Third-party services
- Supabase — registration records and admin authentication
- Resend — optional parent update emails you opt into
- ARASAAC / Mulberry — symbol images loaded from public CDNs when online; cached for offline use
- Apple / Google — standard app store install and update mechanics
Data retention and deletion
To request deletion of registration contact information, email contact@forfreeaac.org. Uninstalling the app removes local AAC data from your device.
